CD Baby’s DIY Musician Conference Returns Live and Online in August

CD Baby’s DIY Musician Conference will be back August 26-28 in Austin, TX. Now in its 7th edition, the conference is designed as an educational and motivational gathering for independent musicians.

The conference promises a virtual option.

Sessions led by industry leaders and other artists are planned, with topics touching on key issues facing independent musicians. The hands-on sessions will include livestreaming strategies, connecting with fans on social platforms, launching a release, marketing music, and more.

Over three days, attendees will also have the chance to work one-on-one with expert mentors and perform with fellow artists;

“One of our goals is for musicians to come away with action plans and the fire to do it,” explains Kevin Breuner, senior vice president of artist engagement and education at CD Baby.

Past speakers and speakers include Questlove, DMC (Run DMC), Mary Gauthier, Jack Conte (Patreon), Alejandro Escovedo, Bob Boilen (NPR), and music supervisor Alexandra Patsavas.

“The DIY Musician conference changed my life,” said Canadian indie-soul artist Ahi who attended the conference and were subsequently nominated for a Juno Award and performed on NPR’s Tiny Desk concerts. “It exceeded my expectations. I’m in the clouds.”

The 2022 lineup will be announced later this spring.
