Strathmore arts community thrives with Musical Arts Society – StrathmoreNow.com

On Wednesday, Golden West Broadcasting and 104.5 More Country presented the Strathmore Musical Arts Society with a $3,200 grant.

The Strathmore Musical Arts Society hosts a variety of events in the Strathmore community that bring arts and entertainment to the community, including a number of dinner parties and musical productions.

Anne Bailey of the Musical Arts Society says the new funding will help music thrive in Strathmore.

“We will continue to bring live music to Strathmore and we will also showcase local talent and bring it to the fore.” She explained that they regularly feature local talent as opening acts.

The musical arts society, while itself a nonprofit, Bailey explained, one of its highlights this year is being able to give back to the community. This year in February, proceeds from one of the events went to support the Strathmore Shelter.

“We love giving back to the community,” Bailey said.

Bailey noted that this season the band will be working to bring a new performance to Strathmore in September which will be hosted at the Ag. Company. The Traveling Mabels will also be back for concerts in December for a community Christmas show this year.

Bailey explained why exposing the community to arts programming is so important.

“I just believe that music brings joy to a soul, and that’s why we want to bring joy to the world and to the community. By providing live music,” she said.
