Club Spotlight: Society for the Musical Arts

The NJIT Musical Arts Society is the perfect organization to join if you want to showcase your musical talents! This may include instrumental as well as vocal presence on campus.
There are three instrumental ensembles: jazz, wind, and strings, which meet in Room 116 of the Central King Building on Tuesdays from 7-9 p.m., Wednesdays from 4-5:30 p.m., and Thursdays from 4-5:30 p.m., respectively. groups, Gigabeats and Saavan, in which students can participate. Other independent bands include the Pep Band and Elementals.
General meetings of the company are generally held in their office in the basement of the Campus Center, room B11. A practice room is also available in room B49!
The organization organizes events throughout the semester, including Open Mic nights and Karaoke nights. It also collaborates with other NJIT groups to engage as much as possible with the campus community. The next scheduled event is an Open Mic Party taking place on Thursday, November 18 from 7-10 p.m. at the Highlander Pub at Campus Center! Feel free to attend to eat, hang out and watch your talented comrades perform, all while having fun!
The Society of Musical Arts is proud to be an organization that enables students to express themselves through this art form. It gives students the opportunity to de-stress from all the academic work they do during the week. As a bonus, students can show off their talents or even learn new skills through the club.
The members of the organization are delighted to have a safe and welcoming space for all students. The club motivates students and gives them confidence to try new endeavors musically, while ensuring they are comfortable with everything they do. It’s always a great time to spend a few hours a week with people who have the same interests and connections to music as themselves.
There are many times the different bands perform, including Homecoming, Sports Games, Club Events, and End of Semester Concerts. The jazz ensemble gives its concert on December 10 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the wind and string ensembles give a joint concert on December 13 from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Both concerts will take place at the Campus Center Atrium. Even if you’re not part of the organization, be sure to come out and support your talented peers!
