WASHINGTON DC, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, USA, March 4, 2022 / — Up-and-coming producer athena joins The Noam Chomsky Music Project with his latest release, bringing a fun and fresh twist to Chomsky’s lectures.

The Noam Chomsky Music Project, run by the Synesthesia Media label, is an expansive global effort to broadcast American linguist Noam Chomsky’s lectures and amplify his voice in innovative ways, delivering his words through one of the art forms the most universally powerful: music. The project was created by Ian Urbina, an investigative journalist who founded music label Synesthesia Media.

The goal of the musical project is to preserve and celebrate Chomsky’s worldview. Spanning genres from classical to hip-hop to electronic, dozens of musicians from around the world have joined the effort. Many of the artists involved in the project draw inspiration from audio archives of Chomsky’s lectures that Synesthesia Media spent over a year building.

Athena is a producer from Leeds, UK. Growing up in a tough region, he said it was easy to become a “product of your surroundings”, but the people around Athena as well as the internet kept him grounded and away from the streets. However, his experiences during his youth raised him where he could understand the hardest things in the world around him. Sound has always had a profound effect on athena, so becoming a music producer felt natural to me.

athena didn’t know much about Chomsky before he started working for The Noam Chomsky Music Project, but while working on his music he found he identified with many teachings.

“I discovered that I already shared a lot of his opinions,” Athena said. “His views on the ‘war on drugs’ are very similar to mine for example.”

Athena added that it is also significant that Chomsky was able to translate his important messages universally.

“I would say one of Chomsky’s strengths is his ability to convey insightful or complex ideas and concepts in an easy-to-digest way,” Athena said. “It’s a skill that I believe is vital to the advancement of society.”

Using the sound samples taken from decades of Chomsky lectures, athena was able to create music in a style similar to Daft Punk and Disclosure, musicians of whom he is a huge fan.

“It was fun to come up with my own take on this classic formula,” Athena said. “I also think it’s a great way to get messages and stories out to an audience that wouldn’t normally hear them.”

“Direct Human Contact” by athena for The Noam Chomsky Music Project is available on all stores, including Apple Music, YouTube and Spotify.
