Musician Gives ‘A Thousand Miles’ A Deathcore Makeover

“A Thousand Miles” by Vanessa Carlton has just had a makeover. Watch this rocker give the song a whole new sound during karaoke.

Whether it’s a metal granny singing “Dragula” by Rob Zombie or a man singing “Closer” by Nine Inch Nails to the tune of the ghost hunters theme, you never know what you’ll hear during karaoke night. This cover by musician Tom The Hateful was not something we expected to hear. He is the frontman of a grindcore/death metal band, Dross, according to Louder Sound.

The singer decided to choose the popular early 2000s song “A Thousand Miles” by Vanessa Carlton for his karaoke pick. But given his musical background, his take looks nothing like the original and the only thing we wish we could change is the length of the video. The crowd looks intrigued as they laugh and cheer him on as he shouts and acts like he’s playing the piano.

While Vanessa Carlton’s music video for “A Thousand Miles” has over 313 million views on YouTube, this TikTok is also racking up significant views. The TikTok was uploaded just a few days ago and has nearly 300,000 views and over 35,000 likes. The text in the video says “This guy is a beast!” and some comments say:

  • “Every time I do that, I get banned from karaoke”
  • “I would pay anything to be at a random karaoke and it goes down”
  • “LEGEND”
  • “These grunts *chef’s kiss*”
  • “The only thing wrong with this video is that [there] ain’t no more!”
  • “This will always be the best video”
  • “This is how I will meet my future husband”
