Musician Jesmond Tedesco Triccas has died aged 59

Musician and singer Jesmond Tedesco Triccas, aka it-Triccas, has died aged 59.

Tedesco Triccas is best known for his satirical Maltese version of Hotel California, but is also a well-known face in theatrical circles. He also acted in various television series.

In the 1980s, he was part of the group Freeway, which often played their music on the television show Moulin-Garaxx.

Her niece Roberta Metsola announced the news on Facebook on Wednesday morning.

“My superstar uncle Jesmond Tedesco Triccas or It-Triccas as everyone in Malta knew him, passed away last night.

“He spent his life guitar in hand making people smile, asking us to reflect, often acting as the mirror of society through his music and art. Always there with advice, warning or criticism , I knew I could always count on him to tell me the unvarnished truth, as only artists can. All my thoughts are with his wife Ben, whom he adored,” said the President of the European Parliament in a message.

Actor and producer Hermann Bonaci told his Facebook followers that Tedesco Triccas has, over the past few weeks, been rehearsing for the upcoming Żeża tal-Flagship production.

“I assure you, my friend, that every production presentation will be dedicated to you,” Bonaci said.
