VIRGINIA – The Lyric Center for the Arts in Virginia will host Iron Range recording artist Mel Annala for a special comeback performance on Wednesday, September 7 at 7 p.m. Annala has spent the past few years traveling Northland sharing her mix of country, folk, Americana, and acoustic rock music.

A press release from Annala’s sister, Sandy Winklesky, said: “Accompanying herself on six- and 12-string guitar and delivering the songs with a warm and inviting vocal style, Annala has been a refreshing and vital part of the northern Minnesota music scene.”

Although he has reduced the number of personal appearances in recent years, the 71-year-old artist says he still enjoys getting out and playing music. His musical travels have taken him through the Iron Range, the Twin Ports and the North Coast. He was recently a special guest at the Lake County Fair in Two Harbors.

“I don’t know how long I’m going to play,” Annala said. “As long as people want to come and hear me, and it fits into my schedule, I think I’ll still be there a little longer…. Performing music for the public has given me the opportunity to meet so many interesting people.
