Folk musician Jay Smar will present a program on Saturday, June 25 during the Professional Artist Series at Cross Keys Village – The Brethren Home Community. Smar will perform old mountain music and coal mine music.
The free public event will take place at Nicarry Meetinghouse beginning at 7 p.m. Seating for performances is limited and is available on a first-come, first-seated basis.
Armed with two guitars, a baritone voice, a claw-hammer banjo and fiddles, vocals and flat feet (a form of clog dancing), he serves his audience an “acoustic buffet” of folk traditional and original American, old-time mountain music, bluegrass and gospel tunes, as well as songs from the coal mines of northeastern Pennsylvania preceded by their origin.
The Professional Artists Series program benefits the Friends of Cross Keys Village.
